What are the responsibilities and job description for the Receptionist I position at Abra Dental?
Essential Duties:
- Check patients in (greeting, taking temperatures)
- Checking paperwork (forms are complete and IDs are copied/scanned)
- Confirm patient information is entered into system (stuff for charts)
- Verify insurance eligibility
- Update patient status in Open Dental
- Collecting co-pays or balance due (based on OD records)
- Send paperwork (Text message, email, or Flex)
- Confirm schedules
- Make calls from Recall list for new appointments/no shows
- Making outbound calls
- Taking inbound calls
- Booking treatment plan appointment (Medicaid only) with patient at check out
- Booking next appointment
- Checking the general dental schedule to ensure eligibility of services, frequency/limitations, correct provider, and approvals.
- Interact with doctors (discussion of schedules)
- Understand PPO eligibility and plan description info for preventative services
- Explain to patients’ reason for the visit
- Talk to patients and begin reviewing basic treatment plans
- Works on assigned report (recall list, treatment finder, etc)
- Check and understand dental insurance with supervision
- Check and understand the schedule of different department schedules and services with supervision
- Make sure appointments have the proper approvals and treatment plans are signed
- Open and sort mail
