What are the responsibilities and job description for the Addictions Counselor position at Above It All?
Above It All is seeking an Addictions Counselor for our Substance Use Disorder Program to become a part of our team! This individual will be responsible for planning and conducting therapeutic activities for both individuals and groups within the program. They will also counsel clients on an individual and group basis and must have an advanced understanding of how therapeutic programs operate and how clients progress through the treatment system and full continuum of care.

- Perform tasks in the therapeutic care, treatment, and rehabilitation of persons with substance use disorder(s) and/or mental health diagnoses.
- Facilitate and supervise individual and group counseling.
- Partner with social service agencies, managed care organizations, hospitals, clinics, courts, prisons, and other entities in coordinating client care.
- Assist clients in their access and utilization of community resources.
- Preparing treatment plans, biopsychosocial histories, discharge/ aftercare plans, reports and maintain accurate records.
- Recommend and coordinate educational and occupational training and/or possibilities for placement; and completing assessments and evaluations based on appropriate ASAM criteria.
- Ensure collection and documentation of urinalysis/ drug screening samples to ensure compliance with treatment requirements.
- Encourage, reassure, and provide needed support.
- Licensed or certified as an alcohol and drug counselors by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists.
- Approved by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists; or Licensed, certified, or permitted under the Health Occupations Article, Annotated Code of Maryland to provide substance abuse treatment.
- 1 Year of Addiction Counseling Experience.
