Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Certified Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist to join our private neurology practice. The MA is responsible for various clinical and administrative tasks to ensure efficient and smooth operations within the infusion suite(s). The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in phlebotomy and infusion to ensure comprehensive support for both patients and healthcare providers. This position also requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a compassionate approach to patient care.
Responsibilities
Patient Care:
- Greet and prepare patients for infusion therapy.
- Obtain and record vital signs, medical history, and other relevant information.
- Assist in the preparation and monitoring of patients during infusion therapy.
- Assist RN with providing patient education regarding infusion procedures and post-treatment care.
- Respond to patient inquiries and provide emotional support as needed.
Clinical Support:
- Assist licensed healthcare professionals with IV insertion.
- Perform phlebotomy and collect laboratory specimens as required.
- Prepare and maintain infusion suite equipment and supplies.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the infusion suite.
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
- Assist with insurance verification and pre-authorization processes.
- Assist with manage inventory and order medical supplies as needed.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members.
Skills
- Working knowledge of EMR systems, preferably eClinical Works (eCW) and epic
- Working knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, MS Word and MS Excel
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Attention to detail
- Strong communication skills to foster positive interactions with patients.
- Ability to remain calm and effective under routine, emergent and urgent medical situations.
- Capability to work collaborativelye within a team-oriented atmosphere while managing multiple priorities effectively.
- Performs other duties and assumes various responsibilities as determined by the Practice Administrator.
