What are the responsibilities and job description for the Track Hoe Operator - Pipe Crew position at Abernethy Contracting?
Abernethy Contracting is looking for a Track Hoe Operator for our Pipe Division to join our team in the Charlotte area. If you have experience as a Track Hoe Operator in Pipe, take safety seriously and can adapt to a changing work site, this is right up your alley. The ideal candidate will enjoy leading, solving problems, working as part of a team and working towards a common goal.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with pipe crew in the excavation and installation process of laying pipe
- Ensure trench is excavated to the proper depth/grade
- Responsible for placement of water, storm and sanitary sewer pipe in the excavation
- Comply with all company and site-specific policies and procedures
- Perform routine inspections, safety walk-arounds, and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment
- Maintain equipment in good operating condition and reporting of maintenance requirements

QUALIFICATIONS
- 2-5 years of experience operating a track hoe for pipe crews
- Experience placing storm pipe required. Experience placing water and sewer pipe a plus
- Sense of urgency and ability to respond to changing situations
- Ability to adapt, prioritize and complete projects in a changing construction environment
- Commitment to safe work practices
- Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed
- Have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Have the ability to travel within 60-75 miles of greater Charlotte Metro Area
- Must pass a pre-employment background screening
