Primary Purpose:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in English Language Arts and Reading (ELAR) to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, and social growth. Enable students to develop strong literacy skills, critical thinking, and effective communication necessary for success in college, career, and life.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for assigned subject and grade level (English Language Arts and Reading 7–12 preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Strong knowledge of ELAR content, including reading, writing, grammar, and literature
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction aligned to TEKS
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs
- Strong classroom management skills
- Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to integrate technology into instruction
Experience:
- Student teaching, approved internship, or related experience
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Strategies:
- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned to district curriculum and TEKS
- Design engaging lessons that incorporate reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking
- Use a variety of instructional strategies, including discussion, writing workshops, and analysis of complex texts
- Differentiate instruction to support all learners, including advanced and struggling students
- Assess student learning through formal and informal methods and adjust instruction accordingly
Classroom Management and Organization:
- Establish a positive, structured classroom environment that promotes student engagement and accountability
- Manage student behavior in accordance with district and campus expectations
- Maintain an organized classroom that supports effective instruction
Communication:
- Maintain open communication with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress
- Provide timely and meaningful feedback on student work, especially writing assignments
- Collaborate with colleagues in PLCs to improve instruction and student outcomes
Professional Growth and Development:
- Participate in staff development and professional learning opportunities
- Stay current with best practices in literacy instruction
- Comply with all district and campus policies and procedures
Other:
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance
- Participate in campus activities, meetings, and committees as required
- Perform other duties as assigned

Salary : $38,000 - $70,000
