Responsibilities

• Perform grinding, polishing, and finishing of stainless-steel components and assemblies
• Operate hand grinders and other finishing tools to achieve specified surface finishes
• Read and interpret blueprints and detail drawings to ensure proper dimensions and tolerances
• Inspect and measure finished parts using micrometers, calipers, and other precision instruments
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment, ensuring proper handling of tools and materials
• Operate overhead crane and/or forklift as needed
• Maintain materials flat and free of digging
• Identify the grain of the material to assess whether the process has been completed and the part is ready to move forward
• Familiarity with different grits of sandpaper 
• Work in confined spaces and varying temperature environments
• Recommend improvements and contribute to Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives
• Execute other tasks as assigned
• Ability to travel when required
• Work in bent, kneeling, or squatting positions for extended periods
• Hold objects weighing 10 to 15 pounds away from the body for prolonged durations

Requirements

• High School Graduate or equivalent
• Two (2) years previous fabrication or metal finishing experience preferred
• Ability to perform basic math equations and read a tape measure
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in finishing processes
• Proficient in using hand tools and finishing equipment
• Self-motivated and able to work independently
• Proficient in reading blueprints
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment
• Experience with Continuous Improvement (CI) and Lean/Six Sigma is a plus
• Typical work is in a manufacturing environment or customer’s site
