Responsibilities
- Perform grinding, polishing, and finishing of stainless-steel components and assemblies
- Operate hand grinders and other finishing tools to achieve specified surface finishes
- Read and interpret blueprints and detail drawings to ensure proper dimensions and tolerances
- Inspect and measure finished parts using micrometers, calipers, and other precision instruments
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, ensuring proper handling of tools and materials
- Operate overhead crane and/or forklift as needed
- Maintain materials flat and free of digging
- Identify the grain of the material to assess whether the process has been completed and the part is ready to move forward
- Familiarity with different grits of sandpaper
- Work in confined spaces and varying temperature environments
- Recommend improvements and contribute to Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives
- Execute other tasks as assigned
- Ability to travel when required
- Work in bent, kneeling, or squatting positions for extended periods
- Hold objects weighing 10 to 15 pounds away from the body for prolonged durations
Requirements
- High School Graduate or equivalent
- Two (2) years previous fabrication or metal finishing experience preferred
- Ability to perform basic math equations and read a tape measure
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in finishing processes
- Proficient in using hand tools and finishing equipment
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Proficient in reading blueprints
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Experience with Continuous Improvement (CI) and Lean/Six Sigma is a plus
- Typical work is in a manufacturing environment or customer’s site
