What are the responsibilities and job description for the SR Mgr of Special Events position at ABCD?
The Senior Manager of Special Events is responsible for the planning and
execution of all major ABCD events, and for the development and on-going
support of program and neighborhood events. Key Responsibilities Develop
and manage the design, logistics, budget, and participation in all the
annual recognition and fundraising events, such as the Community Heroes
Celebration, Hoop Dreams, Field of Dreams, and the Staff Celebration,
and other important events for the organization. Oversee systems and
track overall participation in the events, including maintenance of
attendance lists, sponsorships, and VIP involvement. Provide research
and support related to guests, sponsors, donors, public officials, and
other potential participants. Coordinate and collaborate with internal
teams, including public information, finance, executive, programs, and
others in the creation and production of invitations, guest lists, and
special event-related materials. Support programs and neighborhood sites
in developing and implementing successful outreach, awareness, or
resource development events. Coordinate with staff, ensure that events
comply with outlined event procedures, including event logistics,
materials, and day-of coordination and troubleshooting. Develop,
implement, and maintain a yearly calendar of special events for the
organization in collaboration with Executive and other staff leadership.
Develop systems and manage feedback and post-event follow-ups, including
those related to development activities. Collaborate with the volunteer
office to recruit, screen, and train volunteers for each of the needed
for the events. Maintain successful interpersonal relationships with
individual supporters, companies, and other external partners,
prospective donors, and volunteers. Serve as liaison with third-party
organizations and corporations that run events to benefit ABCD,
providing guidance and support as needed. Collaborate as a member of the
development team, contributing to broader efforts, communications, and
support. Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Minimum of a high school diploma/GED or
equivalent and some college coursework with 5-10 years of relevant
Experience Required. Strong Verbal Communication Skills. Strong Computer
skills, including Microsoft Office Suite. Demonstrated ability to write
clearly and persuasively. Flexibility, initiative, and ability to work
in a team required. Ability to deal sensitively and effectively with
