- Answer multi-line phone systems promptly with professional phone etiquette, directing calls appropriately.
- Schedule patient appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems ensuring accurate documentation review and appointment confirmation.
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification processes to facilitate smooth billing procedures.
- Collect patient information, update medical records, and assist with intake procedures efficiently.
- Manage medical office administrative support tasks including filing, data entry, and maintaining organized medical records.
- Support clinic operations by managing front desk activities such as patient check-in/out, appointment scheduling, and handling inquiries professionally.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information during all interactions.
- Utilize computer skills in Microsoft Office and specialized EMR systems like E-Clinical Works for documentation and office management tasks.
- Perform clerical duties including filing, faxing, copying, and managing multi-line phone systems to keep the front office running smoothly.
Skills
- Proven experience in a medical receptionist or front desk role within a healthcare setting, preferably in clinics or dental offices.
- Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as eClinicalWorks.
- Familiarity with insurance verification and health information management practices.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle patient inquiries professionally and compassionately.
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards to ensure confidentiality of protected health information (PHI).
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation review and accurate data entry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) along with typing skills including 10-key typing for efficient administrative support.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism at all times.
