Assistant Teacher:
The Assistant Teacher is responsible for assisting the Lead Teacher in developing and implementing a program of activities that promotes the social, emotional and physical development of each child enrolled in the classroom.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Help organize the classroom and plan intellectual activities for the children, per the Group Leader's requests.
- Assist Group leader in maintaining records of each child's progress and development.
- Interact with children.
- Prepare snacks.
- Be prepared to take on the role of Group Leader when needed.
- Responsible of assisting the teacher with the implementation of the program's performance standard's, policies and procedures.
- Assist in the day-to-day operation of an early childhood development center including developmentally appropriate practices for a school age program.
- Participate in staff meetings, center activities, and staff development.
- Assist Group Leader in reviewing that progress of each child and developing written plans to promote each child's growth and development.
- Maintain a well- organized, safe and attractive classroom environment conductive to the optimal growth and development of children.
- Develop a positive relationship with each child and promote the development of children.
- Develop a positive relationship with each child and promote the development of self -esteem and self-discipline.
- Assist Group Leader in planning and implementing the daily program of activities based on principles of each child's development and in accordance with the program's curriculum.
- Establish a positive relationship with each child's family and share information about the child's day at the center.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
- Strong classroom management skills
- Experience working with children in educational settings
- Effective communication abilities
- Knowledge of special education practices
- Proficiency in lesson planning and curriculum development
- Background in early childhood education and childhood development
- Familiarity with behavior management techniques and working with children with disabilities
