HIM Analyst / Abstract

Abbeville General Hospital is hiring for a Health Information Management Analyst / Abstract Position: Full-time Analyst/ Abstract for day shift (8:00 am to 4:30 pm) Monday to Friday.

HIM Chart Analyst Job Summary:

Must have the ability to work under constant pressure and have an appreciation for detailed work. Must also have the ability to work at a fast pace to ensure continued productivity for adequate job completion. Accuracy is also of utmost importance. Basic computer skills are required. Good communication skills and the ability to work closely with physicians and hospital personnel are necessary. Background in medical terminology required. Daily verification of an analysis of all inpatient discharged patients’ records. Reanalysis as necessary. Maintenance of the chart deficiency system. Responsible for prepping records for permanent storage. Processing of Join Commission Performance Improvement Indicator measurements. Daily scanning of records received in paper form. Serve as back-up processing of all incomplete chart reports including delinquent lists and suspension lists. Perform other clerical duties, as necessary.

HIM Chart Analyst Required Experience:

• In lieu of formal education, six months previous experience in a Health Information Management department of an acute care hospital in assembly/analysis of medical records or previous comparable experience.
• Computer experience necessary

HIM Chart Analyst Educational Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Completion of a course in Health Information Technology preferred

HIM Chart Analyst Physical Requirements:

• Medium Work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor constitutes a maximum lift of 21-50 pounds on occasion and/or a maximum lift of 11-25 pounds on a frequent basis
• May be required to assist in the turning, lifting, or moving patients as well as walking about from patients’ rooms, as well as to and from various hospital areas.
