What are the responsibilities and job description for the Freight Broker position at ABarton LLC?
Seeking a motivated Freight Broker. Experience is preferred, not required. We are looking for someone with strong initiative, a willingness to learn, and the ability to build relationships and take ownership of shipments from start to finish. An existing book of business would be a big plus.
Responsibilities
- Prospect, contact, and secure new shipper customers.
- Build and maintain customer relationships to generate repeat business.
- Quote freight, negotiate customer rates, and manage load profitability.
- Source qualified carriers, verify carrier eligibility, negotiate rates, and book loads.
- Prepare rate confirmations and communicate pickup, delivery, and shipment requirements.
- Track shipments from pickup through delivery and provide timely customer updates.
- Resolve delays, missed appointments, and other shipment issues.
- Collect proof of delivery and required paperwork, verify charges, and close out loads accurately.
- Coordinate with admin as needed to complete loads in the system.
- Maintain accurate customer, carrier, and shipment records in the transportation management system.
Qualifications
- Freight brokerage or transportation experience preferred, but not required.
- An existing book of business is a big plus.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong sales, negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
- Willingness to learn freight markets, carrier sourcing, and transportation operations.
- Comfortable using or learning load boards and transportation management systems.
- Ability to respond quickly to changing priorities and follow through on customer commitments.
