Position Summary
The Behavioral Health Technician – Applied Behavior Analysis (BHT-ABA) provides direct support to children with autism and developmental delays across home, school, and community settings under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Licensed Behavior Specialist (LBS). The BHT-ABA implements individualized, evidence-based ABA interventions to increase communication, social skills, play skills, and independence while decreasing challenging behaviors.
Because many of the families we serve are Spanish-speaking, bilingual communication in Spanish and English is required for this role.
Responsibilities
- Implement ABA treatment programs as designed by the supervising BCBA/LBS, including Discrete Trial Training (DTT), Natural Environment Teaching (NET), and behavior-reduction strategies.
- Support development of communication, play, social, and adaptive living skills.
- Communicate professionally with families, school personnel, and team members in both Spanish and English.
- Collect accurate and detailed data for each treatment goal during every session.
- Complete and submit session notes and documentation on time and in compliance with agency and payer requirements.
- Maintain a safe, clean, positive teaching environment.
- Maintain client dignity, protect confidentiality, and adhere to ABA ethical standards.
- Participate in required supervision, meetings, and agency-provided professional development.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- High school diploma required.
- Coursework in psychology, education, social work, or related field preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience supporting children with autism or intellectual/developmental disabilities.
- ABA or classroom-based experience preferred.
Additional Requirements
- 40-hour ABA/RBT training certificate from a BACB-approved provider (may be provided by the agency if the applicant does not already have one)
- Bilingual in Spanish and English (required)
- Current PA Child Abuse, PA Criminal Background Check, and FBI Fingerprinting clearances (or willingness to obtain)
- Mandated Reporter certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Reliable transportation to travel within Philadelphia
- Ability to lift 20–25 lbs and participate in active, play-based sessions
Compensation & Schedule
- Hourly Rate: $22–$24/hour (based on experience, education, and certification)
- Hours: Part-time, up to 25 hours per week
- Schedule: Weekday daytime (7:30 AM – 3:30 PM) and after-school availability (4:00–7:00 PM) strongly preferred
