What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Property Manager position at Abacus Group?
Our client is a real estate property management company. They seek an Assistant Property Manager to join their Yonkers, NY office.
Responsibilities
- Manage the resident move-in and move-out process, including unit inspections and preparation of move-out reports with damage and fee assessments.
- Coordinate with senior management to clear HPD, DOB, ECB, and FDNY violations.
- Direct site staff in conducting weekly fire safety inspections.
- Perform monthly building inspections and submit reports highlighting deficiencies to senior management.
- Oversee rent collection and all on-site financial transactions, including check scanning via Yardi and bank deposits.
- Maintain accurate resident and property files in compliance with recordkeeping standards.
- Support senior property management in the oversight of residential buildings and daily operations.
- Ensure apartments, offices, and common areas remain market-ready with strong curb appeal.
- Enforce lease terms, community policies, and compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
- Monitor aged receivables, follow up on outstanding balances, coordinate with legal counsel, review invoices, and track work orders to completion
Requirements
- 3 years of experience in the field of property management, including experience with Section 8
- Previous supervisory experience is a plus
- Familiarity with affordable housing
- Experience managing maintenance staff is a plus
- Understanding of annual certification
- Yardi software experience is a plus
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Experience working with unions is a plus
