What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Technician/Assistant (Full-Time or Part-Time) position at Aardvark Animal Hospital?
We are looking for Full-Time or Part-Time.
Experience strongly encouraged but not required.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Check in patients and request information from the owners, including vaccination records or the reason for the visit
- Clean, disinfect and prepare medical equipment between each appointment
- Administer vaccinations
- Administer medications and/or anesthesia to prepare animal patients for surgery
- Monitor and track vitals following surgery
- Calm, comfort and properly handle animals before, during and after procedures
- Take notes on examination results and updating records
- Feed, bathe and exercise animals during their visit
- Provide owners educational resources and information on how best to care for animals in general, for specific conditions and after various procedures
- Restrain patients for procedures performed by technicians or doctors using fear free procedures first.
- Maintaining a professional, cheerful, and helpful attitude when interacting with pet owners.
- Stocking of hospital supplies, filling out requisition forms as supplies are needed, as described in the assistant manual.
- Assist the customer services representatives when necessary, carrying food for clients and retrieving food or other supplies for CSRs and client
- Performing surgery and dentals with directions by a doctor.
- Follow OSHA standards. Be able to find Material Safety Data Sheets quickly.
- Aids the doctor in client education.
- Clean and disinfect hospital areas daily
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- At least 1 year of basic animal care. (not required)
- Must be able to safely lift 40 pounds.
- Basic math and writing skills.

- 6 PM

- 7:30 AM
