Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research using electronic and print resources, including Mandarin-language sources
- Analyze trade, economic, industrial, and investment policies using foreign-language materials
- Summarize Mandarin-language sources in clear, concise English (oral and written)
- Translate excerpts, reports, and documents from Mandarin into English
- Draft memoranda, reports, and briefing materials summarizing research findings
- Support enforcement actions, investigations, and policy reviews
- Assist with evidence gathering for litigation, investigations, and enforcement matters
- Perform fact-checking and citation verification for reports and legal materials
- Work in a fast-paced federal environment with changing priorities
- Produce accurate, high-quality deliverables under tight deadlines
- Bachelor's degree required (Law, International Affairs, Economics, Political Science, Business, or related field preferred)
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in research, policy, legal, or trade-related work
- Advanced proficiency in written Mandarin required
- Demonstrated experience conducting research using Mandarin-language sources
- Ability to locate, interpret, and analyze foreign laws, regulations, policies, and official publications
- Strong ability to organize, synthesize, and analyze complex information
- Excellent English writing skills with minimal editing required
- Experience preparing reports, memoranda, or analytical deliverables
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- High attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines
- Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously
- Experience supporting federal agencies or international policy programs
- Background in trade policy, international law, economics, or regulatory analysis
- Experience supporting investigations, enforcement actions, or litigation
- Familiarity with government research standards and documentation practices
