Role Description This is a full-time, on-site CDL A Truck Driver role based in Laredo, TX. The driver will safely operate Class A commercial vehicles to transport refrigerated and dry freight between designated locations in the United States, following all company policies and applicable regulations. Day-to-day tasks include conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections, securing and monitoring cargo, maintaining accurate logs and documentation, and communicating with dispatch and operations staff regarding routes, schedules, and delivery status. The driver will adhere to DOT, FMCSA, and cross-border regulatory requirements, practice fuel-efficient and defensive driving techniques, and ensure timely pick-ups and deliveries. The role also involves reporting vehicle issues, supporting cargo security procedures, and representing AAI professionally with customers and partners.
Qualifications
- Valid CDL Class A license, a clean driving record, and eligibility to operate commercial vehicles in cross-border operations.
- Demonstrated skills in safe driving, defensive driving practices, and proper handling of refrigerated and dry freight.
- Ability to perform thorough vehicle inspections, identify basic mechanical issues, and coordinate required maintenance.
- Experience with logbooks or electronic logging devices (ELDs), route planning, and compliance with DOT/FMCSA regulations.
- Strong attention to detail, time management skills, and reliability in meeting delivery schedules.
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with dispatch, operations, and customers; bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
- Capability to manage cross-border documentation and procedures; prior cross-border or international freight experience is beneficial.
- Physical ability to sit for extended periods, handle cargo as required, and work in varying weather and traffic conditions.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; previous experience as a CDL A Truck Driver or in commercial transportation is strongly preferred.
