The IBH Counselor assesses and treats patients in the Health Center, acting as a bridge between physical and behavioral health. This role is responsible for offering culturally sensitive short-term therapy to referred patients, working in collaboration with Health Center providers, and integrating care to promote the overall well-being of each patient. Counselor dedicates at least 50% of their time to providing direct billable services.
Salary: $73,000 - $100,000 Depending on Licensure and Experience

Duties and responsibilities
- Provide culturally sensitive, client-centered individual, group, and family counseling and rehabilitation services.
- Facilitate referrals to community resources and refer to case management services.
- Conduct psychosocial assessments to identify patients' needs and formulate treatment plans.
- Document and maintain clinical records per appropriate standards and regulations.
- Participate in clinical supervisions, team meetings, and trainings.
- Collaborate with the primary care team to integrate behavioral health into the overall patient care plan. Participate in case conferences and care coordination with other AACI programs.
- Complete and maintain LPS 5150 Authorization certification and provide officer of the day support.
- Offer immediate support and crisis intervention for patients experiencing acute behavioral health issues.
- Complete other related duties and projects as assigned.
Education & Experience:
- Registered with the Board of Behavioral Sciences or Board of Psychology as an LMFT, LCSW, ASW, AMFT, or Licensed Psychologist.
- Master’s degree in social work or psychology.
- One year or more of clinical experience in Integrated Behavioral Health, Specialty Mental Health, and/or Brief Therapy Models.
- Experience in providing behavioral health counseling in a healthcare or similar setting highly desired.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Ability to perform the duties described above.
- Knowledge of laws and ethical standards pertaining to clinical care.
- Knowledge of DSM-V criteria for diagnosing behavioral health illnesses.
- Experience with electronic health records and proficiency in documentation.
- Knowledge of Improving Mood Promoting Access to Collaborative Treatment (IMPACT) Model of Care and Managed Care Models preferred.
- Verbal and written fluency in English required; Bilingual skills in a second language (particularly Spanish, Mandarin, Vietnamese) desired but not required.
Competencies:
- Ability to communicate well with people of diverse cultural professional and experiential background.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Working conditions
Work is conducted in an office environment inside a standard clinic setting. Basic safety precautions and use of protective clothing or gear may be required. Occasional evenings and weekend work is required.
