Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in caregiving, particularly in settings such as assisted living, group homes, or nursing facilities. This role requires a strong commitment to patient care and the ability to work effectively with individuals with various needs, including those with developmental disabilities, Alzheimer’s, and dementia.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the quality of life for clients.
- Monitor and document vital signs and changes in patient condition.
- Prepare meals according to dietary requirements and assist with meal preparation.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties.
- Administer medications as prescribed and ensure adherence to care plans.
- Utilize equipment such as Hoyer lifts for safe patient transfers when necessary.
- Engage clients in social activities and encourage participation in community events.
- Provide direct support to individuals with disabilities, including autism and other developmental disorders.
- Follow HIPAA regulations to maintain client confidentiality at all times.
Requirements
- Previous experience in home health care, hospice care, or long-term care settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR certification is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with patient observation techniques and monitoring vital signs is essential.
- Experience working with individuals with Alzheimer’s or dementia is an asset.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting clients with mobility needs.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment.
