Role Description The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Appleton, WI. This role is responsible for leading the mechanical design of process equipment and systems for dairy, food, beverage, and pharmaceutical applications, from concept through detailed design. Daily activities include developing 3D models and engineering drawings, performing calculations and design reviews, and ensuring designs comply with industry codes, hygienic standards, and customer specifications. The engineer will collaborate with project managers, controls engineers, and field technicians to support fabrication, installation, and commissioning, including resolving technical issues that arise during manufacturing and start-up. Additional responsibilities include mentoring junior engineers, contributing to design standards and best practices, and participating in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability, safety, and efficiency of process solutions.

Qualifications
- Strong mechanical foundation, including Mechanical Engineering and Design Engineering skills, with the ability to apply engineering principles to process equipment and systems.
- Proficiency in Machine Design and Product Design, including material selection, component sizing, and design for manufacturability and maintenance.
- Advanced Computer-Aided Design (CAD) skills (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD or similar) for 3D modeling, detailed drawings, and layout of process systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field; equivalent experience with a strong design portfolio may be considered.
- Experience in process industries such as dairy, food, beverage, or pharmaceutical manufacturing, preferably with hygienic or sanitary design standards.
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and equipment specifications, and to collaborate effectively with cross-functional project teams.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience leading or mentoring other engineers or designers and participating in on-site visits, field measurements, and commissioning support as needed.
