Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced Commercial HVAC to join our construction project team. We bid on a wide range of large scale jobs in and around the Houston area. 5 Years of commercial estimating or project experience required.
Duties
- Review and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications related to HVAC systems to accurately determine material and labor requirements.
- Utilize estimating software such as Quotesoft, and other construction management tools to prepare detailed cost estimates for HVAC projects.
- Manage project budgets by analyzing material costs, labor expenses, subcontractor quotes, and other project-specific factors to develop comprehensive bids.
- Conduct material cost estimating and pricing strategies by interpreting blueprints and technical drawings to ensure accurate quantity takeoffs.
- Negotiate with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to secure competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards.
- Oversee the estimation process for multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met without compromising accuracy or detail.
- Collaborate with project managers and clients during the proposal phase to clarify scope, review contracts, and align estimates with project objectives.
- Monitor cost control throughout the project lifecycle by managing change orders, tracking expenses, and updating estimates as needed.
- Review construction drawings thoroughly to identify potential issues early on and suggest cost-effective solutions.
- Maintain detailed records of all estimates, bids, negotiations, and client communications for future reference.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in construction estimating within the commercial HVAC sector or related fields; prior heavy industrial or mechanical estimating experience is highly valued.
- Strong proficiency with Bluebeam Revu for digital blueprint reading and markup; familiarity with estimating software such as Quotesoft or equivalent is essential.
- Excellent negotiation skills combined with the ability to manage multiple projects efficiently under tight deadlines.
- Solid understanding of construction management software platforms and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) for data analysis and reporting.
- Ability to interpret complex technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications accurately.
- Knowledge of construction industry standards, contracts, cost management practices, and material requirements estimation.
- Effective communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration; experience in managing client relationships is a plus.
- Construction site experience or hands-on understanding of HVAC installation processes enhances estimation accuracy.
- Familiarity with Xactimate or similar estimating tools used for detailed cost analysis in commercial projects is preferred.
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
