Role Description The Computer Aided Design (CAD) Drafter is a full-time, on-site role based in Sandusky, OH. This role is responsible for producing accurate technical and architectural drawings for pre-engineered and custom building projects using CAD software. Day-to-day tasks include interpreting design concepts, engineering specifications, and project requirements to create detailed plans, sections, and elevations for fabrication and construction. The CAD Drafter will collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and fabrication teams to ensure drawings are buildable, compliant with standards, and coordinated across disciplines. The role also involves updating and revising drawings as projects progress, maintaining drawing documentation, and supporting the team in resolving design or constructability questions.
Qualifications
- Strong technical drawing and general drawing skills, with the ability to translate concepts into clear, buildable plans.
- Proficiency in engineering drawings, including dimensioning, tolerances, and construction details.
- Experience creating and interpreting architectural drawings for commercial and industrial structures.
- Hands-on experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software (AutoCAD) and willingness to learn company-standard tools.
- Basic understanding of structural and construction principles relevant to steel and pre-engineered buildings.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization in managing multiple drawing sets and revisions.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with engineers, project managers, and fabrication crews.
- Associate degree, technical diploma, or equivalent experience in drafting, engineering technology, architecture, or a related field preferred.
- Experience in commercial, industrial, or metal building construction is a plus.
