Transport Coordinator Job Duties:
- Effectively receive incoming requests for service from customers and providing accuracy in ETAs and updates as necessary.
- Perform call triage when appropriate to ensure patients receive most appropriate level of care.
- Input, via CAD, complete and accurate run information to allow successful deployment of resources and reimbursement for services.
- Provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers.
- Assist with the deployment of field resources to meet customer expectations.
- Effectively arranges scheduled and urgent transports with case managers, social workers, unit secretaries and other hospital staff
- Deals with stressful situations with poise and professionalism.
- Immediately notify leadership team of unusual occurrences, including Shift Commander as necessary
- Reports and documents response/service failures or violations of policy and procedures to supervisor and/or manager.
- Performs level one QAQI auditing of transport charts and communicates any deficiencies with the Director of Corporate Compliance and RCM.
- Receive and respond to non-transport related customer requests in a timely manner.
- Efficiently use Communications technologies including CAD, radio, paging and cellular systems.
- Attend scheduled Organization and departmental meetings and functions as applicable.
- Protects the privacy of all patient information in accordance with the Company’s privacy policies, procedures, and practices, as required by federal and state law, and in accordance with general principles of professionalism as a health care provider. Failure to comply with the Company’s privacy policies will report in disciplinary action up to and including separation.
- The Transportation Coordinator may access protected health information and other patient information only to the extent that is necessary to complete your job duties. The Communication Specialist may only share such information with those who have a need-to-know specific patient information you have in your possession to complete their job responsibilities related to treatment, payment or other Company operations.
- The Transportation Coordinator is expected to actively participate in Company privacy training and is required to communicate privacy Policy information to coworkers, students, patients and others in accordance with Company Policy.
- Demonstrate flexibility as hours of work may be adjusted based on demands of customers.
- Assists in development of performance metrics related to arranging transportation and works to improve metrics and performance goals.
Acceptable Experience and Training:
Experience in either private sector business or emergency services; completion of college level coursework in EMS Management, or related field; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- National and State certification as EMT preferred.
- Prior experience as Communication Specialist, Transportation Coordinator, or Case Worker
- Must be flexible in work schedule to meet the demands of the company.
- Must attend scheduled and called meetings.
- High school diploma. College degree preferred in related field.
- Emergency Medical Dispatcher, EMT, Paramedic, Critical Care Transport dispatch or clinical experience preferred
