What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Assistant position at A Street Animal Clinic?
We are seeking a veterinary technician to provide assistance for small but busy small animal practice (cats and dogs, occasional rabbits and exotics). We are currently open Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5-6 pm though expansion to Saturdays is possible in the future. We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, enjoys looking out for the best quality of care for the animals and interacts well with clients.
Duties include:
- Obtaining history, weight and temperature of patients presented for appointments
- Maintaining cleanliness of exam rooms, surgical suites and treatment areas
- Taking X-rays, obtaining and analyzing blood/urine/feces samples, placing IV catheters, etc.
- Performing dental cleaning procedures on patients
- Monitoring anesthesia and assisting in surgery
- Occasional receptionist duties (answering phones, scheduling appointments, checking in/out clients, etc.) are required during lunch hours and to cover absences as needed.
