Job Title: Forest County Counselor/Advocate
Department: Direct Services
Reports to: Direct Services Supervisor
FLSA Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Work Hours: 40 Hours per week
Position Summary: To deliver high quality domestic violence and sexual violence advocacy and support to all children and adult clients while maintaining strict confidentiality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Maintain strict confidentiality standards.
· Serve as an advocate for the needs of individuals impacted by domestic and sexual violence.
· Provide the following confidential direct services to all clients: Victims Compensation Assistance, Information and Referral, Personal Advocacy and Accompaniment, Emotional and Safety Support Services, and Civil/Criminal Justice System Assistance.
· Provide sexual assault services to incarcerated individuals of SCI Forest.
· Maintain and document participant records and client services in a confidential timely manner provided to the Direct Services Supervisor.
· Participate in case management with the Direct Services Supervisor.
· Be registered and approved on the Protection from Abuse Database (PFAD) and assist with filling out forms, filing online, and follow-through by helping clients file Protection From Abuse and Sexual Violence Protection Orders.
· Provide after-hours hotline coverage and in-person advocacy/accompaniment to hospitals and police agencies as necessary as part of the On-Call rotation schedule.
· This position will require you to primarily work in the main office in Warren and travel to the Forest County Satellite Office for any requested in person services.
· Perform any other eligible duties as required or assigned by grant requirements.
Additional Responsibilities:
· Complete the 20 hours of required annual training relevant to essential responsibilities and standards.
· Must be able to accurately perform above listed duties independently with little to no oversight.
· Must have the ability to work with a diverse group of individuals while maintaining a non-judgmental manner.
· Must be able to handle crisis situations in a calm manner.
· Demonstrated concern for domestic and sexual violence victims.
Qualifications:
· Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Working knowledge of general computer operations, including Office 365 (i.e. Word, Excel, Microsoft Teams) as well as agency email
· Valid PA Driver’s License, use of personal vehicle, proof of auto insurance, and registration required.
· Act 33 and Act 34 Child Abuse and Criminal History Clearances and Act 114 Federal Criminal History Background Check (Fingerprint).
· Successfully complete required Domestic Violence Advocate/Counselor and Sexual Assault Advocate/Counselor training.
