Duties
- Assist with asphalt paving operations by preparing the site, spreading materials, and ensuring proper compaction.
- Operate heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, and front loader trucks under supervision to support paving projects.
- Load and unload materials using dump trucks and loaders, maintaining safety protocols at all times.
- Perform utility locating to identify underground utilities before excavation or paving begins.
- Maintain a clean and organized worksite by removing debris, securing tools, and ensuring safety barriers are in place.
- Support the crew with site setup, traffic control, and safety inspections throughout each project phase.
- Follow all safety guidelines and procedures to promote a safe working environment for everyone on site.
Experience
- Previous construction site experience is highly preferred, especially in paving or roadwork environments.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, and dump trucks is a strong plus.
- Knowledge of utility locating techniques and safety practices related to underground utilities.
- Experience working with Caterpillar machinery or similar heavy equipment brands is advantageous.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions while maintaining physical stamina.
- Strong teamwork skills with a proactive attitude toward learning new skills on the job.
