Summary
The Staff Accountant is responsible for customer billings and collections, as well as associated document processing and filing. The Staff Accountant will use receipts and other documents to verify and process transactions, record and analyze financial information, communicate with lenders, clients, and suppliers, and assist with daily, monthly, and yearly accounting activities and projects. This role allows oversight and growth opportunities across several company departments.
Essential Functions
- Perform general accounting and other related duties for the organization.
- Perform administrative tasks, such as creating daily worksheets, monitoring daily emails with correspondence, filing management, and weekly reports.
- Record day-to-day financial transactions.
- Assist in preparation of financial reports.
- Send disbursement account invoices to customers by e-mail or through customer required websites.
- Contact vendors to request late invoices.
- Collections and customer follow-up via phone call and e-mail as needed.
- Maintain the general ledger.
- Reconcile ledger accounts.
- Verify and/or complete payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensure payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
- Provide external accountants Financial Review support; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual accountant review.
- File tax forms with government agencies.
- Maintain knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures
- Perform all other tasks and duties assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalency required.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred.
- Two years of related experience preferred.
- Highly organized, efficient, precise person to act as a liaison between multiple departments required.
- Transportation industry experience preferred.
- Strong intrapersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with persons from a wide degree of backgrounds and nationalities required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software required.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities required.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail required.
- Ability to work independently required.
