About the Role
A&R Group Hospitality is hiring an experienced Area Maintenance Technician to join our team, based out of our corporate office in Gulf Shores, AL. This hands-on maintenance role supports multiple hotel properties, ensuring building systems — including mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, fire safety, and pool/spa systems — stay in proper working order. What You'll Do
Perform repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance on building systems, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire safety, and pool/spa equipment across assigned properties.
Maintain and monitor pool and spa operations in compliance with local health and safety regulations, including chemical testing, water balance, and equipment upkeep.
Assist on-site Chief Engineers and maintenance staff with hands-on technical guidance and troubleshooting.
Ensure ongoing compliance with safety standards, health codes, and building regulations.
Document maintenance activities, inspections, and equipment status, and report on preventive maintenance, corrective actions, and capital improvement needs.
Respond to maintenance requests from guests and staff in a timely, professional manner.
Support energy conservation, sustainability, and operational efficiency initiatives.
Coordinate with contractors and vendors on repairs, service calls, and capital projects.
Provide after-hours and emergency support, including on-call rotations, weekends, holidays, and severe weather response.
Travel regularly between assigned hotel properties in the region.
Foster strong working relationships with hotel management teams, maintenance staff, contractors, and vendors.
Promote a positive company image and uphold brand standards across all assigned properties.
What We're Looking For
High school diploma or GED required.
5 years of hotel, facility, or building maintenance experience.
3 years of management or multi-property oversight experience.
In-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, pool/spa, and fire safety systems.
Certified Pool and Spa Operator (CPO) certification required, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
Valid driver's license, clean MVR, and active automobile insurance required.
Reliable transportation and ability to travel between assigned properties.
Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and during severe weather conditions as needed.
Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
Comfortable using office software and maintenance management systems.
Comprehensive understanding of safety regulations and loss control principles.
High emotional intelligence, professionalism, and composure under pressure.
Ability to lift up to 60 lbs., climb ladders up to 30 feet, and work in high or confined spaces.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering.
Certified Chief Engineer (CCE) — National Association of Hotel & Lodging Engineers.
Certified Maintenance Employee (CME) — AHLEI.
HVAC License.
Strong knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems.
Proven success managing engineering teams across multiple facilities.
Familiarity with regional building codes, environmental standards, and safety regulations.
