Position Summary: |
The Urban Forest Manager (UFM) is an outside sales role responsible for building, owning, and growing a tree care territory for A Plus Tree. This is a hunter’s seat: you prospect new business, win new accounts, and grow a book of recurring revenue across apartment communities, HOAs, commercial properties, and other property segments. Trees are an essential service — every property has them, and every property needs an expert partner to keep them safe, healthy, and beautiful.
This is a highly visible, client-facing role with real ownership and uncapped earning potential. The UFM operates both strategically and tactically, mapping a market, prioritizing the right accounts, and personally driving deals from first conversation to close. You set the strategy for your territory, and you do the work to grow it, supported by a team of arborists and operations professionals who handle technical scoping and delivery so you can stay focused on selling.
The ideal candidate is a driven, consultative sales professional with strong relationship-building instincts and the discipline to manage a pipeline and hit a number. You do not need a tree care background, we will teach you the trees. You bring the sales acumen, the work ethic, and the hunger to grow a region. Above all, this role is responsible for generating new revenue and long-term client relationships while advancing the company’s broader growth objectives.
Responsibilities: |
Territory Growth and New Business Development
- Prospect, network, and generate leads to grow your territory — hunting for new logos, not simply managing existing accounts.
- Develop and execute a territory plan that identifies the highest-value opportunities across multifamily, HOA, commercial, and other property segments.
- Research market opportunities, competitive activity, and growth levers to expand revenue in new and emerging areas.
- Consistently meet and exceed monthly and annual sales goals.
Client Relationships and Consultative Selling
- Build trusted relationships with decision-makers, including property managers, HOA boards, and commercial owners with multiple stakeholders.
- Lead consultative conversations that uncover client needs and position A Plus Tree as a long-term partner, not a one-time vendor.
- Prepare and present proposals one-on-one or to small groups and boards, and bring deals to close.
- Turn one-time jobs into recurring, contracted relationships that grow year over year.
Pipeline Management and Sales Discipline
- Maintain an accurate, healthy pipeline and provide reliable forecasts to sales leadership.
- Manage activity, follow-up, and account information in the CRM and ArborPlus.
- Track progress against goals and proactively adjust strategy to stay ahead of target.
Collaboration and Field Execution
- Partner with arborists, operations, and client success teams to scope work accurately and deliver an exceptional client experience.
- Represent A Plus Tree at networking events, expos, lunch-and-learns, and industry functions.
- Stay close to market dynamics and client feedback to continuously sharpen your sales approach.
- Model a high standard of professionalism, responsiveness, and relationship-based selling.
Compensation and Earning Potential: |
$80,000–$85,000 base salary plus uncapped commission
- Commission accelerates with attainment. The more territory you build, the larger your share of every dollar.
Qualifications: |
Required:
- 3 years of outside or field-based sales experience, ideally selling a service.
- Proven track record of generating new business and growing a sales territory.
- Strong consultative selling, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Comfort managing a pipeline, a number, and a CRM.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and relationship-management skills.
- Self-motivated, organized, and disciplined in a goal-driven environment.
- Ability to travel within the assigned territory and maintain a strong field presence.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Must be 21 or older.
Preferred:
- Experience selling into multifamily, HOA, commercial real estate, or property services.
- Experience with Pipedrive or a comparable CRM.
- Background in tree care, landscaping, construction, or related industries — helpful, not required.
- ISA Certified Arborist credential, or interest in earning one. We support you on the technical side, and our arborists back you on every job.
