About the Position
A Place For You is looking for a dependable, caring, and responsible Program Advocate: Overnight to join our team.
Program Advocates help create a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for people staying at A Place For You. This is an important role that combines resident support, safety, shelter operations, and teamwork.
While overnight hours are often quieter, this is an active position. Staff need to be comfortable working independently, staying alert throughout the shift, and responding calmly and appropriately when needs or unexpected situations arise.
The right person will be someone who treats people with dignity and respect, communicates well, follows established expectations, and can be counted on to help keep the shelter running smoothly.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least one year of experience in a direct-service position.
- Ability to work overnight hours, including some weekends and holidays.
- Ability to successfully complete and pass a Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background study.
- Ability to perform the essential physical requirements of the position.
Experience in shelter services, homelessness services, human services, housing, behavioral health, or other direct-service settings is helpful, but shelter experience is not required.
Schedule
This is a full-time overnight position, generally working four 10-hour shifts per week, typically from 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.
Some weekends and holidays are required.
Compensation & Benefits
$19.00–$24.50 per hour, based on education and experience, plus an additional $1.00 per hour overnight shift differential.
