Position Overview
The System Architect will design and guide the technical architecture of a major federal data collection and reporting system. The candidate will ensure the solution adheres to federal standards, integrates with legacy mainframe databases, and supports modern frameworks such as Angular and AWS-based services.
Duties and Responsibilities

Define and maintain system architecture, including integrations between legacy mainframe (DB2, MVS) environments and modern web/cloud platforms.

Lead solution design for a front-end Angular migration, ensuring high performance, security, and scalability.

Collaborate with security and operations teams to align with federal compliance requirements (FISMA, NIST, etc.).

Develop and maintain architectural documentation, guiding development and operations teams.

Evaluate emerging technologies (e.g., AWS GovCloud) to inform system evolution and modernization.

Provide technical oversight for performance tuning, high availability, and disaster recovery strategies.
Required experience and skills

5 years of experience as a solutions or systems architect, ideally in a federal environment.

Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture principles, microservices, and integration patterns.

Proficiency with Angular, DB2, MVS, AWS GovCloud, and MicroStrategy integrations.

Excellent documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred experience and skills

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

Familiarity with HHS/CMS security frameworks and ARS (Acceptable Risk Safeguards).

Cloud or architecture certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, TOGAF).

History of designing data-intensive or BI-driven applications.
