Transportation & Logistics Supervisor/Operations Manager

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Transportation & Logistics Supervisor to oversee daily transportation, warehouse, and distribution operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cold chain management, air freight operations, shipment coordination, and team leadership.

This role is responsible for ensuring the timely, safe, and compliant movement of materials, products, and temperature-sensitive medical shipments while maintaining product integrity and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise daily transportation and logistics operations, including drivers, dispatchers, and warehouse personnel.
• Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments and allocate resources according to operational needs.
• Manage domestic and international air freight shipments, including preparing Bills of Lading and booking cargo space.
• Monitor shipment status, flight schedules, delayed shipments, and shipments placed on hold.
• Ensure proper cold chain packaging, including gel pack preparation, configuration, and refurbishment.
• Monitor GPS tracking systems and ensure drivers are assigned to appropriate vehicles.
• Resolve shipment discrepancies, delays, and operational issues through corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate shipment documentation, operational records, and communication logs.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures, quality standards, regulatory requirements, and standard operating procedures.
• Maintain shipment traceability, chain of custody, and product integrity.
• Train, coach, and support employees while promoting accountability and continuous improvement.
• Identify opportunities to improve workflow, resource utilization, service quality, and operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, distribution, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of cold chain management and temperature-sensitive shipments.
• Experience with airline cargo, air freight operations, or domestic and international air shipments.
• Knowledge of shipping documentation, cargo booking, shipment tracking, and export procedures.
• Experience using transportation tracking systems, GPS, or logistics management systems.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Three or more years of supervisory or management experience.
• Experience in pharmaceutical distribution, medical logistics, or temperature-controlled transportation.
• Forklift operation experience.
• Professional certifications such as CSCP, CLTD, or CPIM.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

• Ability to lift and handle packages weighing between 25 and 70 lbs.
• Ability to operate a forklift, where required.
• Ability to stand and walk periodically throughout the workday.
• Comfortable working in a warehouse environment with office-based responsibilities.
• Ability to use computers and logistics systems for a significant portion of the workday.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing operational requirements.

Additional Information

• This is a temp-to-perm opportunity.
• Training will take place from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Regular working hours will be Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
