SQL Database Administrator
📍 Location: Lansing, MI (Hybrid)
💲 Pay Rate: $50–$55/hour (W-2)

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced SQL Database Administrator 3 to support enterprise database environments across on-premises and cloud platforms. This role is responsible for database administration, backup and recovery, security, performance tuning, automation, and hybrid cloud database operations.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience with SQL Server administration, cloud database technologies, PowerShell automation, and performance optimization in complex enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, administer, and maintain SQL Server database environments
- Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies across hybrid/cloud environments
- Configure SQL Server on physical servers, VMs, and cloud IaaS platforms
- Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting
- Manage indexing, statistics, integrity checks, and database maintenance automation
- Implement and maintain security controls including:
- Data masking
- Transparent Data Encryption (TDE)
- Row-Level Security
- Develop and maintain automation using PowerShell, dbatools, and cloud CLIs
- Monitor hybrid database performance across on-premises and cloud platforms
- Support Azure SQL, Managed Instances, and AWS RDS SQL Server environments
- Assist with cloud migration initiatives and database modernization efforts
- Create and maintain database documentation, standards, and operational procedures
- Collaborate with application teams, analysts, and infrastructure teams to support enterprise systems
Required Qualifications
Database Administration & Infrastructure
- 3–5 years of SQL Server administration experience
- Experience implementing backup and recovery strategies across hybrid/cloud environments
- Experience configuring SQL Server on physical hardware, VMs, and cloud infrastructure
Security & Compliance
- 3–5 years of experience with:
- Transparent Data Encryption (TDE)
- Data masking
- Row-Level Security
Performance Tuning & Optimization
- 3–5 years of experience optimizing queries and indexes
- Experience troubleshooting locking/blocking and performance bottlenecks
- Strong T-SQL skills
Automation & Cloud
- 2–3 years of PowerShell or CLI automation experience
- Experience with hybrid infrastructure connectivity between on-prem and cloud environments
- Experience with Azure SQL and/or AWS RDS SQL Server
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud database migration tools
- Experience with CI/CD and database deployment automation
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Flyway, or Redgate
- Experience with multi-tenant database environments
