Job Title: Instrument Test Technician IILocation: San Diego, CAPay Rate: $35–40/hourSchedule: 40 hours per week (Preferred 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM; flexible)Work Setting: 100% OnsiteAssignment Length: Contract with possible extension Job SummaryThe Instrumentation Tech III is responsible for providing on-site customer and operational support. This role includes installation, qualification/validation, calibration, maintenance, and repair of diagnostic and general laboratory equipment and instrumentation. The position requires a high level of technical expertise, independent judgment, and strong customer service skills. Occasional after-hours, holiday, and weekend support may be required based on business needs. Key ResponsibilitiesInstall, qualify, validate, calibrate, maintain, and repair laboratory instrumentation with minimal direct supervision, in accordance with current ISO standards.Perform calibration, maintenance, and repair activities for laboratory equipment as needed.Maintain documentation in compliance with cGDP (Current Good Documentation Practices).Complete service and administrative documentation accurately and in a timely manner.Communicate effectively regarding service schedules, technical issues, and resolution timelines.Report quality concerns and technical problems in detail to management and relevant stakeholders.Demonstrate strong time management and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities.Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to a team-oriented, efficient work environment.Perform component-level troubleshooting and complex electronic diagnostics.Utilize electronic test equipment and read technical schematics proficiently. Education RequirementsHigh School Diploma or GED required.Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or related field preferred.U.S. Military TMDE/PMEL or instrumentation experience highly desirable. Experience RequirementsMinimum 7 years of recent, related experience servicing laboratory equipment and plant instrumentation.Strong experience troubleshooting complex electronic systems required.Minimum 5 years of direct experience working under ISO 9001:2008, 10012, 17025, or 13485 standards.Experience with medical devices and equipment highly desirable.Knowledge of PCs, application software, LIS systems, networking, and database management preferred.Experience with PC-based equipment and software applications preferred.Refrigeration equipment calibration, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting experience is a plus. Knowledge & SkillsStrong working knowledge of electronics and electro-mechanical systems.Advanced understanding of calibration principles, terminology, loop checking, start-up procedures, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair activities.Proficient in using electronic test equipment and reading schematics.Strong computer and data management skills.Excellent communication, customer service, and technical writing skills.Strong organizational, prioritization, and administrative abilities.Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive projects effectively.Quick learner with strong technical aptitude and ability to adapt to new technologies.Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required.Customer-focused mindset with demonstrated professionalism and maturity.
