Job Title: Instrument Test TechnicianLocation: Milpitas, CAPay Rate: $27.00/hourShift: 1st Shift — Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM (Overtime required as needed)Interview Type: In-person Job OverviewThe Instrument Test Technician performs production assembly operations along with complete system analysis, testing, and performance optimization of moderately complex instruments. This role includes basic electrical, mechanical, and software troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve test equipment issues based on defined pass/fail criteria. The technician identifies defects, escalates issues as needed, and supports continuous improvement efforts while maintaining strict safety and quality standards. Key ResponsibilitiesBuild, integrate, and understand the full assembly process for instruments in the production areaPerform functional and release testing on at least one moderately complex instrumentAnalyze test data and results to determine pass/fail outcomes and recommend corrective actionsTroubleshoot electrical, mechanical, or software issues on non-functioning equipmentOptimize system performance, including precision movement and/or light systemsIdentify defects and recommend design or process improvementsRead and interpret drawings, work instructions, and workmanship standardsProvide training and guidance to associates on mechanical and testing activitiesInterface with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Planning, and Purchasing teams as neededPerform standard material handling for raw materials and sub-assembliesMaintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment through proper housekeepingFollow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), safety policies, and quality proceduresComplete work in accordance with company specifications, operating procedures, and policiesSupport continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing initiativesPerform other duties as assigned to meet business needs QualificationsEducation & ExperienceAssociate’s Degree in Mechatronics or a related technical field with 0 years of experience, OR5 years of experience in electrical, mechanical, or software troubleshooting Required Skills & CompetenciesAbility to support testing for moderately complex instrumentsFundamental knowledge of mechanical tools (torque drivers, gauges, bits, etc.)Proficiency in reading technical drawings and measuring dimensionsStrong analytical, math, and problem-solving skillsBasic PC skills and familiarity with Windows operating environmentsAbility to manage time across multiple production ordersStrong attention to quality, detail, and safetyEffective communication and teamwork skillsAbility to adapt to frequent assignment changesProven leadership potential with the ability to mentor and train othersCommitment to Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing practices Additional RequirementsMust be proficient in English (reading, writing, and comprehension)Must be able to work overtime as required to meet business needsMust comply with all safety, housekeeping, and quality policiesIf you are interested, please send an up-to-date resume to jschafer@alinestaffing.com
