This position ensures medical record accuracy, completeness, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance.This role is located inside a correctional facility and requires strict adherence to security procedures. The position also involves extensive walking throughout the facility.Key ResponsibilitiesCompile health information by reviewing, cataloging, and checking medical reports for completeness and required signaturesOrganize and prepare medical reports for placement in health information filesPrepare charts for new admissions and complete required health information formsPrepare requests for specific medical reports or certificatesCompile and type statistical reports, including:Daily and monthly census reportsMedicaid daysAdmissions and dischargesLength of stay dataFile reports into health information recordsRecord information in logs and filing systemsRetrieve health information records as requestedRelease information from medical records after determining appropriateness of requestCoordinate with other departments regarding medical records proceduresEnsure compliance with confidentiality standards and regulatory requirementsWork Environment & Security RequirementsPosition is located within a correctional facilityExtensive walking requiredNo cell phones permitted until proper paperwork has been submitted and approvedMust clear a metal detector dailyNo cans, tobacco, vapes, or prohibited items allowedFood and drinks must be in clear, see-through containersNo more than one gallon of water permitted inside the facilityTB test and HireRight drug screen required if selected (must be initiated within 48 hours of accepting position)Minimum QualificationsThree (3) courses or nine (9) months of experience in records managementOne (1) course or three (3) months of experience in medical terminologyOne (1) course or three (3) months of typing experienceOR equivalent combination of education and experienceRequired Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge of health information technologyKnowledge of JCAH and Medicare/Medicaid regulations governing medical record keepingKnowledge of patient confidentiality requirementsKnowledge of medical terminologySkill in use of word processing software and calculatorAbility to:Proofread medical reports and identify errorsRecognize missing medical record documentationWrite routine business correspondenceGather, collate, and classify dataWork within established procedures and guidelinesSolve problems involving limited variables in familiar contextsIf you are interested, please send an up-to-date resume to jschafer@alinestaffing.comINDJP
