About the Role

We are looking for a seasoned, hands-on Landscape Project Foreman to lead our hardscape and landscape installation crews across the Greater Des Moines area. This is a role for someone who knows the craft inside and out, leads with confidence, communicates professionally with clients, and takes genuine pride in delivering a finished product that exceeds expectations.

This is a seasonal position running approximately mid-March through mid-December, with 10-hour workdays Monday through Friday and occasional Saturdays during peak season.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a crew of 2–3 individuals across active landscape and hardscape installation projects
• Serve as the primary on-site point of accountability for project quality, crew performance, safety, and schedule
• Install and oversee a full range of hardscape features including patios, retaining walls, walkways, outdoor steps, fire pits, water features, and outdoor living structures
• Read and interpret project plans, design drawings, and installation specifications
• Communicate professionally and proactively with clients on-site regarding project progress, timelines, and any changes
• Coordinate with project managers and the office team to ensure seamless project execution and client satisfaction
• Train, mentor, and develop crew members in proper installation techniques and safety protocols
• Operate and maintain equipment, vehicles, and tools in a safe and professional manner
• Manage project materials, supplies, and job site organization throughout each project

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in landscape construction with a demonstrated background in hardscape installation — this is a requirement, not a preference
• Proven experience leading and managing field crews
• Strong knowledge of hardscape materials, installation methods, and industry best practices
• Personable and professional communication style — you will be the face of A Lawn & Landscape on every job site
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record — required
• Bilingual English/Spanish — preferred but not required
• Ability to read and interpret landscape plans and design drawings
• Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• A team-first attitude and a genuine commitment to quality workmanship

Schedule & Compensation

• $44,000–$60,000 per year based on experience
• Seasonal employment: mid-March through mid-December
• Monday–Friday, 10-hour workdays with some Saturdays during peak season

Physical Requirements

This is a physically demanding, fully outdoor role. Candidates must be able to:

• Lift and carry up to 75 lbs independently
• Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and crouch for extended periods throughout the workday
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions throughout the season
• Operate hand tools, power tools, and landscape construction equipment safely
• Perform digging, grading, and heavy material handling tasks regularly
