Job Summary
The Float/Teaching Assistant plays a vital role in supporting classroom activities and enhancing the learning experience for students. This position involves working closely with teachers to provide assistance in educational settings at a private learning center providing education to the local school district. The ideal candidate will have a passion for early childhood education and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. School is closed for all major holidays, public school vacations (except February vacation), and closed during the summer for at least 8 weeks (mid June to mid/late August).
Qualification:
Must complete DHHS finger printing before starting.
Early Childhood college students encouraged to apply. Associates or Bachelor's degree in ECE, education, or related field preferred.
CPR/First aide certified to ensure student safety or completed within 30 days of hire.
Duties
- Assist the lead teacher in implementing lesson plans and classroom activities.
- Provide support to students with special education needs, ensuring they receive appropriate care and attention.
- Help manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive learning atmosphere.
- Supervise and engage with children during playtime, meals, and other activities.
- Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and classroom setup.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the lead teacher regarding individual student needs.
- Maintain a safe and clean classroom environment conducive to learning.
Preferred Experience but Not Required
- Background in preschool experience or early childhood education
- Knowledge of childhood development principles to support age-appropriate learning activities.
- Proven experience with children through roles such as childcare, daycare, nannying, or babysitting.
- Strong classroom management skills to effectively engage students and maintain order.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while being adaptable to changing needs.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with students, parents, and staff members.
Person hired for this position will not begin until August 24th. We are a school that is only open from late August through Mid June, primarily follows a school year calendar with vacations & holidays. Must be willing to work until 5pm.
Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
