Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in caregiving, particularly in settings such as assisted living, nursing homes, or group homes. This role requires a strong commitment to patient care and the ability to work effectively with individuals with varying needs, including those with developmental disabilities, Alzheimer’s, and dementia in the patients home.
Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the quality of life for clients.
- Monitor and document vital signs and changes in client conditions.
- Prepare meals according to dietary restrictions and preferences.
- Assist with medication administration as per care plans.
- Perform light housekeeping tasks including cleaning and laundry to maintain a safe environment.
- Support clients in engaging in social activities and community outings.
- Utilize equipment such as Hoyer lifts for transferring clients safely.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect client confidentiality.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to implement effective care plans.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in home health care, hospice care, or long-term care is preferred.
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR certification is required.
- Familiarity with patient observation techniques and monitoring vital signs.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or memory care needs is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a family unit.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and assist clients with mobility challenges.
- Understanding of caregiving principles and practices related to senior care.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in social work or nursing is beneficial.
