Heavy Equipment Operator – Drain Field Systems
Type: Full-Time
Pay: $30.00 – $40.00 per hour DOE
Incentives: Experienced Drain Field Technicians may qualify for additional incentives
Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and dependable Heavy Equipment Operator to join our growing septic and construction team for our Drain Field Division. This position is ideal for someone with experience operating mini excavators and other construction equipment who is interested in building a long-term career in septic and drain field systems.
The ideal candidate will be willing to learn all aspects of drain field inspection, maintenance, repair, and installation while developing the skills and certifications needed to become an expert in the field. Key Responsibilities
- Operate mini excavators (Kubota) and other heavy equipment safely and efficiently
- Assist with the inspection, maintenance, repair, and installation of drain field systems
- Diagnose and troubleshoot septic and drain field issues
- Perform excavation and site work related to septic systems
- Use hand tools and equipment safely and effectively
- Complete required job documentation and reports
- Report completed work to counties through OnlineRME
- Maintain accurate daily job records in ServiceTitan
- Follow all company safety procedures and local health department regulations
- Work effectively with team members, customers, and supervisors
Minimum Requirements
- Experience operating mini excavators or similar heavy equipment
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with 3 years of verifiable driving experience (Instructional permit time does not count toward driving experience.)
- Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
- Ability and willingness to obtain a CDL in the future
- Willingness to become a WOSSA Certified Level 2 Technician (company-paid training)
- Must pass and participate in random drug screen process
- Must pass a background check
- Comfortable working in all weather conditions
- Physically able to perform heavy labor, including hand digging, lifting, trenching, and other demanding physical tasks
- Proficient with hand tools
- Ability and willingness to learn septic and drain field systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with septic or drain field systems
- Experience operating Kubota mini excavators
- Experience using ServiceTitan
- Knowledge of residential or commercial utility systems
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
