Job Skills / Requirements
HR work closely with upper management to implement beneficial HR programs across departments. The job is to host intro and exit interviews for employees, investigate employee complaints and lead presentations regarding workplace ethics, teamwork and productivity. They may also conduct performance reviews across departments to work with employees to create performance improvement plans.

Education and training requirements
Need a bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field, such as business management or finance, to qualify for this higher-level role. However, some employers prefer candidates who have a master’s degree as well, usually in human resources, business administration (MBA) or labor relations. Organizations also look for candidates who have been trained to use specific software for record-keeping, enterprise management and resource planning, presentation and document creation, editing, digital signage, project management and communication.
Experience Requirements
An HR Manager should have experience in lower-level HR roles, such as HR Assistant, HR Specialist and HR Generalist, before being considered for a managerial position. Experience managing a team of people and dealing with external contractors is also a plus. Some employers prefer to hire candidates who have previous experience as an HR Manager, while others may accept applicants with certifications from associations like the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) or the HR Certification Institute (HRCI).
