At E78, we assist our clients in finding just the right candidates to fit their needs! They are currently seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to be responsible for the financial management of Client. Operational responsibilities include transactional functions of the accounting team, budget management, cost-benefit analysis, fiscal reporting, forecasting, audit compliance, and financial and programmatic reporting for government contracts and private grants. The CFO mentors and develops members of the accounting team, ensuring financial integrity, stewardship, and service throughout the organization. The CFO is a key business partner to the President & CEO, Board of Directors, and Executive Team and provides strategic oversight of the organization's finances in ways that support our mission.
Responsibilities:
Leadership
- Communicate effectively and timely within all levels of the organization through clear, concise messaging.
- Cultivate relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Mentor and develop staff to develop accounting staff; cross-train accounting staff on department functions and responsibilities.
- Evaluate staff performance through continuous feedback, acknowledgment, and reward.
Operations
- Execute organizational financial strategies.
- Oversee and report on cash flow management.
- Track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and analyze trends.
- Forecast return on investment (ROI) for current and future programs.
- Develop plans for growth increases company revenue while decreasing expenditure.
- Develop and monitor budgets, communicating with senior leadership and program staff regularly.
- Inform key stakeholders of financial status and investment plans.
- Ensure all financial operations comply with local, state, and federal law and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to the President & CEO and Boards of Directors.
- Coordinate audit activities.
- Maintain appropriate insurance coverages for the organization.
- Supervise the accounting team to ensure accurate and efficient day-to-day transactions.
Controls
- Ensure adequate fiscal controls are implemented, supporting documentation is approved and readily available, and that all fiscal transactions will pass independent and governmental audits.
- Evaluate accounting policies and procedures ensuring regulatory compliance, and immediately communicate any accounting issues to the President & CEO and Executive Director.
- Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial assets of the organization.
- Responsible for the coordination and activities of government monitoring visits and independent auditors.
- Monitor all banking and investment activities of the organization, and immediately informs CEO of any unresolved issues
Qualifications:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting from an accredited university/college
- Eight years' experience in extensive nonprofit fiscal management with diverse funding sources and annual operation budget of $10 million
- Eight years demonstrated experience utilizing Sage Intacct (preferred), MIP or other fund accounting software required
- Five years' experience in direct management or supervisory role
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Acts ethically, responsibly, and with the utmost integrity at all times
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of non-profit accounting in accordance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of governmental and contractual vendor reporting and audit requirements
- Ability to interpret and apply regulations and procedures
- Ability to collect, organize, analyze and process information accurately, quickly and efficiently and to promptly respond to internal and external information requests
- Exceptional judgment, analytical, and financial management skills
- Ability to effectively and strategically communicate complex financial information to a variety of stakeholders, including Boards of Directors
- Foster positive and collaborative working relationships with the accounting team, internal departments and programs, and external entities in support of organizational culture
- Demonstrated experience managing accounting team, including ongoing performance management, providing immediate and effective coaching and feedback, setting goals and measurement metrics, and developing staff into future leaders
