The Lead Med Tech supervises and supports the care staff, coordinates daily assignments, ensures timely response to resident needs, and manages medication services in accordance with state regulations and community policies. This role serves both Assisted Living and Memory Care neighborhoods.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Supervision
- Oversee daily assignments for care staff and ensure tasks are completed correctly and on schedule.
- Provide ongoing training, coaching, and direction to care partners.
- Communicate performance concerns, provide constructive feedback, and partner with the Executive Director on disciplinary actions.
- Orient new staff to medication systems, resident routines, and community expectations.
- Ensure compliance with community policies, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide medication assistance in accordance with state laws and 81 Oaks policies, including ordering, preparing, administering, and documenting medications.
- Maintain accurate medication counts and ensure the security of the medication cart and medication storage room.
- Keep medication carts, storage areas, and related equipment organized and in compliance with sanitation and safety standards.
- Observe residents for side effects, unusual symptoms, or changes in condition and report immediately to the charge nurse or Director of Wellness.
- Support medicationrelated audits, pharmacy coordination, and regulatory reviews.
- Respond promptly to resident pendant alerts and ensure all alerts are answered within 15 minutes with required documentation.
- Assist with ADLs as needed.
- Engage residents with warmth, conversation, and supportive interaction.
- Identify changes in physical, emotional, behavioral, or cognitive status and report immediately.
- Provide support in the dining room during mealtimes as needed.
- Assign equipment such as radios and pagers, ensuring accurate documentation and accountability.
- Complete incident reports, medication administration records, behavior documentation, and changeofcondition reports thoroughly and timely.
- Answer phones professionally per community standards.
- Assist the Executive Director with resident assessments and contribute to individualized care plans.
- Ensure team members deliver exceptional customer service to residents, families, visitors, vendors, and regulators.
- Greet families and visitors warmly and maintain a calm, residentcentered environment.
- Promote teamwork, professionalism, and a positive tone across the community.
- Ensure full understanding and compliance with all residents’ rights.
- Uphold confidentiality, privacy, and ethical standards.
- Adhere to all safety procedures, emergency protocols, and infection control guidelines.
- Minimum 1 year of previous supervisory experience.
- 35 years of experience in senior care or dementia care preferred.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Must possess all staterequired certifications/licenses for medication assistance.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Strong communication skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Compassion, empathy, and a genuine desire to work with older adults.
- Strong teamwork and leadership abilities.
- Ability to pass a drug and alcohol screening
