801 Chophouse St. Louis is hiring for a Pastry Cook! We're entering our busiest time of year and need full-time, seasonal help from a talented pastry professional. This position has the potential to continue at full-time status after the holidays or may reduce to fewer shifts/part-time status, depending on staffing and business levels.
This is a non-exempt (hourly) pastry position working in a team-oriented, high-volume / fast-paced, guest-centric environment with the highest quality food & drink. Typical shifts for this position begin mid-afternoon (prep) and continue through active dinner service.
Requirements & Expectations:
- Minimum of 2 years, but preferably at least 4 years of pastry / cold line experience
- Ability to successfully work the pastry station in a fast-paced / high stress environment while remaining calm, professional & working as part of a team
- Knowledge of molecular gastronomy, experience with cake making & decorating, petit fours/ mignardises, gluten-free, ice cream/sorbet, bread making, etc.
- Ability to handle knives, operate kitchen equipment & follow recipe / presentation guidelines while maintaining proper food safety & sanitation standards
- Coordinate food orders to support timely / efficient delivery to each table; meet special guest requests while ensuring same high-quality standards
- Ability to effectively communicate with BOH team in loud environment
- Must be available 7 days per week, including nights, weekends & some holidays
- Regular, predictable and reliable attendance
Physical requirements include, but are not limited to:
- Physical ability to work on your feet, alertly, for extended periods of time
- Continuous use of hands and arms; continuous bending, reaching & twisting
- Physical ability to frequently lift 20-30 lbs; & occasionally up to 50lbs
- Ability to squat, kneel, and climb
