Job Title: Vascular Sonographer / Dual-Registered Sonographer (Echo & Vascular)

Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Vascular Sonographer or Dual-Registered Sonographer (Echo & Vascular) to join our in-house cardiovascular team in Cookeville TN, starting Summer 2026. This full-time role is responsible for performing non-invasive vascular ultrasound studies, including carotid duplex and lower extremity arterial examinations, with the opportunity to perform cardiac echocardiography for dual-certified candidates.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, patient-focused, and committed to producing high-quality diagnostic imaging to support physician evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of cardiovascular and peripheral vascular disease.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform non-invasive vascular ultrasound studies, including:
- Carotid duplex examinations
- Lower extremity arterial (LEA) studies
- Additional vascular studies as ordered and within scope of credentials
- Perform transthoracic echocardiograms (TTEs) if dual-registered and credentialed
- Prepare patients for procedures by explaining exams and ensuring comfort and safety
- Acquire accurate, high-quality images and Doppler measurements in accordance with established protocols and physician orders
- Identify, recognize, and document abnormal findings and communicate critical results to interpreting physicians
- Ensure accurate documentation of procedures and patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Maintain ultrasound equipment and adhere to quality assurance, infection control, and safety standards
- Collaborate effectively with cardiologists, vascular specialists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
- Adhere to all HIPAA, regulatory, and organizational policies
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or Certificate in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Cardiovascular Technology, or Vascular Technology, or a related field
- Vascular credential required, such as:
- RVT (ARDMS) or
- RVS (CCI)
- Dual certification preferred (e.g., RDCS/RCS in addition to RVT/RVS) for candidates performing both echo and vascular studies
- Credentialing through ARDMS or CCI must be obtained and maintained for all modalities performed
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- Prior experience performing carotid and lower extremity arterial studies preferred
- Strong understanding of vascular anatomy, hemodynamics, and Doppler principles
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary cardiovascular team
- Candidates with prior leadership or supervisory experience may be considered for a Lead Sonographer role
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods and assist with patient positioning
- Manual dexterity to operate ultrasound equipment
- Ability to lift and move equipment and assist patients as needed
