Responsibilities
- Prepare a variety of sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese-inspired dishes with precision and artistry
- Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene in all aspects of food preparation
- Develop innovative sushi recipes and presentation techniques to keep menus fresh and exciting
- Manage ingredient inventory, ensuring freshness and proper storage of seafood, rice, vegetables, and other supplies
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient service during busy hours
- Educate junior kitchen staff on sushi techniques, presentation, and safety protocols
- Uphold company standards for quality, consistency, and customer satisfaction at all times
Skills
- Extensive experience in sushi preparation and Japanese cuisine culinary techniques
- Strong knowledge of seafood handling, knife skills, and rice cooking methods
- Ability to develop creative sushi recipes and presentation styles
- Excellent classroom management skills for training junior staff or conducting workshops
- Experience with curriculum development related to culinary arts or specialized cooking classes
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and sanitation standards
- Passion for working with diverse teams and engaging with customers through culinary storytelling
- Knowledge of photography for food presentation or promotional purposes is a plus
