Position Overview
6K is seeking a Battery Cell Technician to aid in the development of cathode and anode materials within our R&D environment. The ideal candidate will be focused on building, testing, analyzing, and maintaining lithium-ion batteries, performing tasks like cell assembly, electrical/thermal testing (cycling, capacity, life), failure analysis (teardowns, microscopy), data collection, and equipment maintenance, all while strictly following EHS (Environment, Health, Safety) protocols for handling hazardous battery materials and ensuring quality for R&D and manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- · Prepare materials and assemble components for prototype battery builds.
- · Build battery cells based on standard operating procedures (SOPs) and set up tests on battery cycling equipment.
- · Manage inventory of battery consumables and testing fixtures.
- · Set up, operate, and perform preventative maintenance on mixing, coating, and related equipment.
- · Generate reports and updates on battery cycling data on a periodic basis and maintain diligent records.
- · Perform other technical functions as required to support R&D operations.
Requirements
- · Entry level to 3 years of hands-on experience as a technician building and testing R&D batteries or other electrochemical cells.
- · Ability to process and summarize data
- · Possess a high level of attention to detail with the handling of samples and test data
- · Be able to follow documented procedures and give feedback on existing or missing procedures
- · Have good communication skills to report issues clearly and effectively
- · Experience with battery testing using Arbin or Maccor testers
- · Must be able to work in a repetitive environment
Pay: $30.00 - $33.00 per hour
