Under the supervision of Journeymen and Supervisors, the potential employee will conduct maintenance activities of the electrical distribution and instrumentation systems following world class asset management processes and safe work practices. This role is a great opportunity for a self-motivated tradesperson to learn and develop your career. Reporting to the Instrumentation & Electrical Supervisors you will: Essential Functions: Coordinates the Machinist’s function with overall Plant operations. Sets up and operates machine tools such as metal lathes, milling machines, planers, shapers, radial drill presses, grinders and pipe threading machines. Selects proper machine and determines rate of feed, speed, tools to be used and tooling sequence to best accomplish work to be performed. Shapes, turns, drills, bores, mills and grinds various metal stocks and mechanical equipment components such as bearings, shafting, sleeves, etc. Diagnoses equipment problems and performs repairs. Reads, understands and utilizes information contained in drawings for machine tool work and installations and alignment of equipment. Uses micrometers, depth, dial, ring and plug gauges and vernier calipers to verify accuracy of work performed. Maintains personal tools by grinding and shaping. About you To succeed in this role, you will have: Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent Must show proof of college courses, trade school or apprentice program certificate of completion Two (4) years of experience as a Machinist in a manufacturing environment. Must know safety requirements for IE trade Must possess intermediate English reading and writing skills Must possess basic computer skills Must be able to use fall protection equipment and work at heights Must have a valid California Driver's license Must be skilled in the use of measuring devices and the safe operation of all tools used by a Machinist in manufacturing. Must meet accepted standards for skilled craft work and be capable of working to within a .0001 tolerance level. Must be able to read blueprints and drawings. Will continue to develop knowledge and skills through training to become proficient in operating computerized equipment utilized in the Maintenance industry.
