Role Summary
The Production Control Expeditor plays a key role in coordinating materials, job travelers, and production schedules to ensure an efficient manufacturing flow. This position works closely with production control, materials management, quality assurance, and planning teams to keep every job on schedule and every customer satisfied.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and work floor procedures while performing material handling and production support tasks.
- Monitor daily production schedules and job travelers, ensuring accurate and timely job flow through all manufacturing stages.
- Coordinate with production, planning, materials, and quality teams to identify bottlenecks such as material shortages or equipment downtime and escalate when needed.
- Verify that operators are scanning in and out of jobs daily for accurate ERP tracking.
- Expedite materials, tools, and components to support production schedules; confirm availability and readiness before each run.
- Update JobBOSS ERP system with job progress, delays, corrective actions, and priority changes.
- Communicate production status, schedule changes, and issues to supervisors, team leads, and operations management.
- Assist with setting up job kits and material racks to enable timely production starts.
- Maintain accurate records of material transfers, job documentation, and schedule deviations.
- Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement efforts to optimize workflow and reduce downtime.
- Conduct document reviews to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Handle local deliveries and pickups of optical components.
- Serve as a backup for shipping and receiving operations when required.
What We’re Looking For
- 3 years of experience as a production expeditor, scheduler, or materials coordinator in a manufacturing environment (experience in optical manufacturing or precision machining preferred).
- Proficient in ERP/MRP systems such as JobBOSS or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of production scheduling, material flow, and workflow optimization.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license (required for local pick-up and delivery tasks).
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour
