Junior DevOps Support (West Coast)

Brief Description

The Junior DevOps Support role is part of a global team supporting other 4G Clinical employees with troubleshooting and technical issues. Our environments are entirely cloud based and most of our environment management is automated. The role splits time between a) troubleshooting failures for other internal users and b) improving and expanding our automation. To support an ever-growing user base a high aptitude for context switching is needed.

Responsibilities

Hours of work - 11am - 7pm PST

DevOps Troubleshooting

• Monitor and fix automation failures across our development and production environments (AWS, Kubernetes, Jenkins (Groovy), Bitbucket/Git, Docker, Ansible, Terraform, Helm)
• Work directly with internal users to communicate issues and suggest solutions
• Ensure all-time availability of production environments and schedule maintenance and migrations in coordination with the Services Team
  
  

Interpersonal Skills

• Have a friendly, approachable, confident attitude for finding solutions and meeting our users where they are
• Excel at multitasking, context switching, and prioritizing simultaneous user requests in an interrupt environment
• Communicate clear, accessible instructions and escalation procedures
• Fluently author wiki articles to serve stakeholders of varying knowledge and abilities
  
  

Automation Development

• Contribute to the code base for our internal automation tool (Angular, Typescript, Python, AWS Lambda, AWS DynamoDB, Jenkins)
• Balance independent coding projects with time sensitive troubleshooting tasks
  
  

On Call

• DevOps personnel share a rotating on-call duty, both during normal business hours and over weekends.

Requirements

Languages: Python, Bash, Typescript, Groovy, or equivalent coding languages

DevOps: Experience in at least two of: AWS, Kubernetes, CI/CD tools (specifically Jenkins), Git, Docker, Jira/Confluence, Ansible

Operating System: Experience developing on either: Linux (Ubuntu/Debian), Mac OSX

Education And/or Certification Requirements

The candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or IT.
