Required Qualifications, Skills and Tools
· Must be familiar with Patient Centered Care culture in healthcare
· Ability to review and interpret blueprints and specifications
· Skilled in free form drawing and drawing to scale when on a job site measuring for a project
· Expertise with recommendations for the selection, specification, procurement, and placement of furnishings
· AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) are required
· Microsoft Project and Revit are beneficial but not required
· Must be able to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally with a variety of contractors, management officials, vendors, Contracting Officers, and Long Beach staff
· Preferred certifications: NCIDQ, Project Management Certification, Evidenced Based Design Accreditation and Certification (EDAC), and/or LEED
Key Duties and Responsibilities
· Work with the contracted Interior Designer, contracted Interior Design Assistant, and VA Interior Designer to create and execute appropriate design services for varied spaces including offices, conference rooms, patient care exam rooms, patient treatment rooms, waiting rooms, entry lobbies, break rooms, and support rooms throughout all major construction projects
· Perform technical, administrative, or professional work involving managing, administering, operating, or supporting services and programs related to the operation and safety of Federal facilities
· Design building interior environments to promote employee productivity, health and welfare
· Prepare detailed AutoCAD designs, plans, sketches, perspectives, color schemes, and visual aids for proposed design presentations
· Analyze architectural drawings and develop AutoCAD FF&E plan layers for systems and components of building codes, major equipment, materials, placeholder furnishings, and traffic patterns
· Interpret and review provided architectural plans for concurrence to the VA TIL, standards, and specifications
· Produce procurement packages following VA contracting procurement standards including SOW, technical specifications, attachments, documentation, drawings, IGCEs, bid sheets, and budgets
· Manage financial aspects related to the procurement of FF&E items; communicate with awarded vendor and activations team; coordinate delivery and installation schedules
· Create and maintain collateral: specification writing, IGCE, schedules, financial control log, scaled drawings, and market research using Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD
· Maintain in good order the Interior Design Resource Library
· Manage activation including furnishings, accessories, art, signage, equipment, and office supplies; oversee installation tasks during the installation phase
· Administer day-in-the-life scenarios, move plans, create schedules, and attend project meetings
· Review wayfinding signage plans, furniture, and artwork installation plans; direct installation crews without supervision
· Identify and create punch lists for installed items; coordinate with furniture dealers, installers, and other involved parties
· Apply working knowledge of ABAAS, VA Barrier Free Design Guide, VA TIL, ICC, OSHA, and NFPA
· Routinely coordinate with Contracting, Logistics, EMS, OI&T, Material Management, end users, and Engineering
· Create and maintain an activation project schedule; meet with key stakeholders for transition planning
· Responsible for meeting notes and design collateral related to meeting outcomes
